1. What’s the story?
If you are a European, then the Eurovision concept is familiar for you, but for those, who don’t know anything about it: Every year there is a song contest where every European (and some almost or wannabe European) countries send one artist with one usually a very generic song to compete against each other, and then countries give them votes who they like the best usually based on mainly politics and less on the song quality, but it is what it is. So this Movie is exactly about that but shown from Iceland’s perspective.
Lars (Will Ferrell) is an Islander whose dream is to compete at the Eurovision and win. He wants to do it with his childhood friend (and maybe sister, who knows) Sigrit (Rachel Mcadams), who has an amazing voice and who believes in elves. Through some Elf-magic all the other Iceland’s musicians die, so it’s happy days for Lars and Sigrit who can take part in the Eurovision song contest with their duo named Fire Saga. They meet different singers from all the competing countries that spices things up at the personal level, then try…
