THE BIG BUS (1976): 7 Critical Questions
Genre — Action, Comedy
Cast — Joseph Bologna, Stockard Channing, John Beck
Director — Peter Berg
Rated — PG

1. What’s the story?
In the world where driving a bus is a very serious thing, a controversial “he’s got skills”-chauffeur Dan Torrance (Joseph Bologna) is called back on duty to drive the first ever nuclear powered bus in the world. People don’t like him, because he has an attitude, and he may or may not have eaten 150 people, but still…he’s just so damn good at what he does, and guys like those always get more chances to do the infamous one last ride.
2. What’s special about the film?
The Big Bus clearly didn’t have a big budget but it managed to do a lot with very little. It was definitely great to see that they actually built this bus and drove it around and didn’t try to use some poorly executed “cinema magic” for that. I also appreciate that they used real roads and real cliffs — it gave a more realistic feeling in the end!

3. For whom?
