1. What’s the story?
The story is very simple: In the “The Platform” (Original title: “El hoyo”) world exists a vertical prison that has unknown amount of floors, and on every level there can be up to 2 people. There is also a hole in every cell’s floor. No, those holes are not for shitting, but it’s from where the food platform comes down, and it stays at every level for 2 minutes for people to eat (they can’t take the food and keep it). So — people in the cells that are higher up can eat a lot, and no food reaches to the bottom levels. There are more details to that but I’ll keep the spoil-fest at the minimum. Let me put it this way: people act differently when they know that there will be no food.
2. What’s special about the film?
It’s nice to see that it’s possible to make well-crafted movies with a low budget — all you have to have is a good idea and an attention to details. Also the whole story takes place in closed rooms, and quite a large part of it is dialogue that makes a viewer think. Although the setting is totally from a Sci-Fi alley, it…
